
In the north of the French department of Dordogne and less than ½ hour from Angoulême and the TVG train link to Paris that takes a little more than 2 hours. In 2017, once the future high speed line that is currently being built is finished, this time will be reduced to 1½ hours. Undulating hills, deciduous woods and Cognac-producing vines form a succession of green landscapes. The region has 24 areas that are classified “Natura 2000”, thus protecting certain birds, the European mink and orchids. The temperate climate is mild.

The property is situated on the outskirts of a town in the Medoc region, 35 km (22 miles) from Bordeaux, its airport and French TGV train station. Its position is a little way from the Gironde estuary which protects it from humidity and fog. The region benefits from a special micro-climate that is particularly favourable for the vineyard and the appellation. Its outstanding “terroir” unites the most prestigious of Bordeaux’s Grands Crus Classés as well as numerous Crus Bourgeois. Regional tourism is good because of the chateaux with their interesting, sometimes unusual, architecture and the wine tasting.

This Lalande de Pomerol region is situated on one of the trails that led to Saint-Jacques de Compostelle; which resulted in the building of shelters, hospices and Commanderies, notably, Lalande church and the “Hospitaliers” church dating from the 12th century.
